MSS was founded in 1981 with a simple but powerful mission: to bring hospital-level nursing care into the homes of families who needed it most. At the time, many parents of medically fragile children faced two painful choices—extended hospital stays that kept their children away from home, or navigating care on their own without enough professional support. Our founders, a small group of nurses who had witnessed these struggles firsthand, believed there had to be a better way.

From the very beginning, MSS was built on the philosophy that every patient deserves dignity, every family deserves support, and every child deserves the chance to thrive at home. Starting with just a few dedicated nurses, we began serving families across Maryland, providing compassionate, reliable, and highly skilled private duty nursing care. Word spread quickly—not just about the quality of our nursing, but about the way we treated each family like our own.

Over the years, MSS has grown into one of the most trusted providers of pediatric complex care in the region. Our nurses have cared for children with tracheostomies, ventilators, seizure disorders, and rare genetic conditions—children whose needs require both exceptional clinical skill and unwavering compassion.
